SPARGELFEST 2011!
The Germans go crazy for asparagus (spargel) every May! There - as here - asparagus is a sure sign of spring...or, as the Germans say, asparagus is the "Joy of Spring".
In late May, the Black Forest Inn will devote a menu to asparagus! We'll serve fresh, local asparagus in as many delicious ways as we can think of. We will have asparagus with pork, with chicken or with fish. We'll be making asparagus strudel, soup, and salad. We will wrap asparagus, roast it, mash it, candy it and we will infuse vodka with asparagus to make the delicious Spargeltini. If you aren't an asparagus lover already, you will be at Spargelfest!

Friday, May 27, 2011
On May 27, we will donate 20% of our food sales to Harvest for the Hungry, a program of the Emergency Foodshelf Network. Our support helps them deliver fresh, local produce to food shelves and meal programs in the Twin Cities. With the money raised, EFN purchases produce from Minnesota and Western Wisconsin farmers. So Harvest for the Hungry both supports local growers and provides fresh produce to hungry families! For more info visit:
